English Setter Shows

Be sure you fill out all of your paperwork for the show in advance. Many of the papers you will need can be found online. Be sure all of the details are taken care of before the show. Be sure to place all of your show paperwork in a safe place so you will have it the day of the show. Usually, a week or so before the big event you will receive your show packet with all of your important info.

Be sure you read and review everything that you were sent. A good idea at this point is to make a list of all of the items you will need to pack for the show. It is wise not to feed your English Setter on the eve of the show to avoid your dog having an upset stomach due to the car ride or the day’s excitement.

Be sure you have plenty of your Setter’s favorite command treats with you for the show. Upon arrival find your assigned location and set up your pets grooming supplies. Refer to your packing list and check off items as you unpack them. This way if you have forgotten something you have time to get it.

Now it is time to groom your English Setter. Your dog should be well accustomed to this routine and you should take great care in not exciting the dog in any way as you groom. Put the proper show lead on your dog and grab your bag of rewards on your way to the show ring. Listen for your call to the ring. The shows judge will then instruct you on what to do.
